The REACH Centre provides programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are focused on skill acquisition to foster independence in whatever form that looks like for our participants. We offer a stimulating and fun program that is both educational and recreational. We provide a place where participants can experience true community and supportive friendships, while engaging in life-long learning to achieve their full potential.
The REACH Centre is a registered charitable organization and we have our own facility in the heart of downtown so destinations like the library, theatre, art galleries and coffee shops are all within walking distance!

The REACH Centre Grey Bruce is a registered charity CN#748721693RC0001. We serve exceptional youth & young adults with Down Syndrome, Autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. We believe everyone has gifts to share and we embrace diversity!
Our inclusive approach focuses on fostering skill acquisition, independence and self advocacy.
As a local charity that receives no government funding, we rely on our community to be able to deliver quality programming. Everything you give goes 100% into program delivery.

This week in Creative Expressions! The lunar new year is once again upon us. In celebration of this cultural event, the participants got to create a collaborative mosaic mural, depicting the most noble of creatures. Happy year off the horse! #chinesenewyear #yearofthehorse #reachart

It was an exciting start to the day! The last couple of weeks participants have been hard at work filling out their movement passports. Every time they`ve completed an activity they would receive a stamp and several reached the 10 they needed to enter this week`s draw. Today was the big day for our FIRST draw and our big winner was Michelle! Michelle has been hustling the last couple of weeks completing several walks, chilling out to some yoga, and participating in Aquafit on her own time. Well done Michelle! Enjoy your fancy new tumbler cup. Well done to all of you and keep it up! Our next draw will be Wednesday February 18th. Keep logging those activities and collect those stamps.

Where We Started…
The REACH Centre Grey/Bruce started the way many grassroots initiatives begin: with a conversation around someone’s kitchen table. A small group of parent leaders and community advocates explored their desire for something different for their adult children who experienced a variety of exceptionalities. Concepts like purposeful work, authentic friendships, ongoing educational opportunities, a place to celebrate individual strengths … all became part of the vision.
In July 2014, a summer recreational program known as REP was initiated as a pilot project by this group. By the fall of 2014, the group had expanded to a board of directors and started to put in place a permanent program incorporating their hopes and vision. In 2017, we became an accredited charity and we continue to raise the bar of abilities for our REACH Centre participants.
Where We Are Today…
Currently we offer four full days of programs in our own facility in downtown Owen Sound. We serve over 50 youth and adults who experience a diversity of challenges and strengths. Participants travel from Southampton, Wiarton, Meaford, Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Chatsworth and beyond.
Participants help to co-create stimulating and varied programming, suited to their individual interests and needs. On any given day, a great deal of laughter and joy can be heard echoing from our programs as we are collectively learning and expanding together. Please click on our Programs for more details.
